On Tuesday (10/21), the New York State Police out of Williamson, in conjunction with Wayne County Animal Cruelty Investigators, responded to a residence in Ontario for a report of a dog that had been shot.
Lucas J. Wisecup, age 21, of 1738 Kenyon Road in Ontario was arrested for Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th.
It is alleged that Wisecup shot his dog in the head behind his residence. According to Wisecup, he did so with a .22 caliber rifle after the dog bit him on the arm.
A search warrant was executed at the residence, and a .22 caliber rifle and a sawed-off shotgun were recovered. The dog’s remains were exhumed, and brought to a local veterinarian for examination. That examination revealed numerous pellets present within the dog’s head, clearly indicating that it was the shotgun and not the .22 that was used in this crime.
Wisecup was arraigned in the Town of Ontario Court, and remanded to the Wayne County Jail on $5,000 cash/$10,000 bond.
