The Town of Macedon Police reported the arrest on Friday (11/7) evening of Oran Morton, age 17, of Macedon, for Making a Terroristic Threat. An investigation revealed that Morton allegedly made threats to several Gananda High School students that he was going to either blow up the school or shoot up the school. Upon learning of the alleged threat, District officials immediately contacted the Macedon Police to report the potential threat. Oran was processed and arraigned in Macedon Town Court and was remanded to the Wayne County Correctional Facility on $7,000 cash/$15,000 bond.

Macedon Police Chief John Colella commended the actions of Gananda School District officials in notifying police immediately once the alleged threats were brought to their attention. Chief Colella also commended the students who reported the alleged threats.

“In this day and age, any threat against students, staff or facilities of a School district will be aggressively investigated and prosecuted to avoid any potential violence”. Chief Colella advised that their investigation revealed that Morton did not possess any weapons or any potentially dangerous items at the time of his arrest. The Chief stated that Morton cooperated with Police and that he made admissions to making the threats against the school although he denied any actual intent to act on them.

The Times has learned that Morton, a junior at the Ruben A. Cirillo High School in Gananda, has been caught with a pocket knife at school and was involved in an incident last year where he choked a student.
