Call it bad luck for two drivers on Friday (11/13) and an opportune moment for State Police.

While on patrol at 3:30 a.m. on Friday, on Route 89 in the Town of Savannah, State Troopers came upon a disabled car that had run off the road into a guardrail.

The driver called a friend to come and get him, but police spotted the two driving away from the scene as they approached.

A traffic stop and investigation revealed that both the driver of the car involved in the accident, Jeremy Haig, age 25, of Route 89 in Seneca Falls and the driver-friend, Garry Hall, age 26, of Bixby Wood Road in the Town of Savannah, were both intoxicated.

Haig began resisting arrest and was taken down to the pavement. He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated with a blood alcohol level of .16%, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, Failure to Keep Right and Resisting Arrest. He was arraigned on the charges and released to reappear in Savannah Town Court on December 3rd.

Hall was issued appearance tickets for Driving While Intoxicated with a blood alcohol level of .11%. He will appear in Savannah Town Court on December 17th.

Both cars were towed from the scene.
