State Police responded to a report of a small plane in trouble and landing in a snowy field near the Pulcini gravel pit, behind a house on Quaker Road in the Town of Macedon at 1:45 p.m. on Thursday (1/21).

The plane, travelling from Dartmouth, Massachusetts to Rochester for business was operated by Jeremiah Coholand. On board was a passenger, Richard Medeiros. Coholand called the Rochester airport declaring he was in trouble after the carburetor froze up while he was cruising between 5500 and 6000 feet. He decided to find the best and only place he felt he could make a safe landing and avoid any power lines.

The plane made a bumpy, but otherwise perfect landing. Although he asked police on the ground if he could take off after making the emergency landing and defrosting the air craft, FAA officials responded and told him the plane had to be checked out by a mechanic. A pathway was cleared and the plane was gone the next morning.
