Marion bank robber…it was only a matter of time before they got him

The Wayne County Office of the Sheriff reported the arrest on Wednesday (7/27) at 7 a.m. of a Romulus man, (formerly of Marion), following a 6 month investigation into a bank robbery that occurred on January 20th, 2016 at the M&T Bank located on Main Street in the Town of Marion.

Ryan J. Laws, age 38, of State Route 96 in Romulus, was charged with Robbery in the Third Degree and Grand Larceny in the Third Degree.

It is alleged that Laws entered the Bank and demanded money and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Laws, who has an extensive police record, was considered a “work-in-progress” for quite a while. He reportedly kept moving around after the bank robbery.

According to police sources, Laws was found to be in possession of heroin and other controlled substances when taken into custody. He faces those charges in Ontario County. Laws was arraigned in the Town of Marion Court and sent to the Wayne County Jail on No Bail. Laws, a predicate felon who has served prison time, is scheduled to appear in Marion Court.
