The Wayne County District Attorney’s Office announced the indictment  on Tuesday (3/20) of two teens in the murder of Zackary Dwello, age 17, of Sodus.

The Newark Police received a report that went through 911 at approximately 10:28 p.m., Friday (12/8) night. The caller stated he had been stabbed and police responded to an area adjacent to Perkins Park to find a 17 year old male,  later identified as Dwello, unresponsive and lying next to his car.

Dwello appeared to be suffering from seven stab wounds. The Newark Arcadia Volunteer Ambulance responded and transported him to Newark Wayne Community Hospital where he was stabilized and air lifted to Strong Memorial Hospital. Dwello died eight hours later.

Hunter Peck, age 18, of Old Lyons Road in Newark and Vaughn Gray, age 19, of Hope Avenue in Newark were indicted for Murder in the First Degree, Murder in the Second degree and three counts of Robbery each.

Vaughn Gray

State Police have arrested Peck multiple times before. In September 2017, he was charged with felony falsely reporting an incident for allegedly making a threat against the Wayne Technical and Career Center and Wayne Education Center in Williamson.

Back in June, Peck tried to pay for merchandise at a Lyons gas station with a fake $100 bill. He was arrested for that, as well.

The next court date for both Peck and Gray is scheduled for March 22 due to a lack of attorneys.
