His sister was concerned when Douglas Wilson, age 65, had not shown up in the Adirondacks on Thursday to go camping. She called the next door neighbor who found the Quaker Road, Macedon house unlocked.

Along with her dog, the neighbor found Wilson face down in the property adjoining the Erie Canal. Wayne County Coroner, along with Macedon Police and Investigators from the Wayne County Sheriff’s office responded.

Another neighbor recalled seeing Wilson riding his bike earlier in the day on Quaker Road.

It was believed Wilson had somehow entered the water about 30 yards from where it was discovered, next to a small boat and dock.

According to police, Wilson lived in the house by himself and had another building nearby on the property with a second dock. Evidence was secured at that point, but police did not release any details.

“At this point we are treating it as an unattended/suspicious death,” said Macedon Police Chief John Colella. The body was removed to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.

Wilson was active in the Palmyra Library and Trails Committee in Macedon. According to Chief Collela, autopsy results may be pending at any time to determine if the cause of death was by drowning.
