Patrolling State Troopers spotted a 2006 Chevy Impala with tinted windows headed eastbound on Route 490 in the City of Rochester at 6:08 p.m. on Tuesday (3/8).
The vehicle was stopped and the first thing the Troopers experienced was the smell of marijuana. That led to a search of the vehicle and the seizure of numerous drugs and $873 in currency from the driver.
The vehicle operator, Chance E. Burke, age 20, residing at 83 Ridge Road, Apt. 3 in the Town of Ontario admitted he had been smoking marijuana and was headed back home from Buffalo.
A marijuana pipe was in plain view and the Troopers spotted a large bulge in Burke’s front pants. Upon inspection, a large quantity of prescription drugs was seized, along with the currency. Following an extensive search of the vehicle, more drugs, scales and paraphernalia were also discovered.
An inventory of the drugs resulted in the seizure of 8 oxycodone, 49 acetaminophen/oxy pills, 11 Xanax, 17 Terra Med cannabis, 120 milligram espresso beans (marijuana chocolate bites) and 9 (100 milligram) THC cherry drops.
Burke refused to tell police whether he was buying, or selling drugs in Buffalo.
Chance was charged with two counts of Controlled Substance not in Original Container, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree-Intent to Sell, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia and three counts of Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
A passenger in the vehicle, Tiffany Turner, age 19, was taken into custody for questioning and later released. It was discovered that Tiffany had a Court Order of Protection barring Chance from being in her presence. Chance was then additionally charged with Criminal Contempt in the 2nd Degree.
Chance was arraigned in Rochester City Court and remanded to the Monroe County Jail on $20,000 cash bail to return to Court on March 14th. His vehicle was towed from the scene.
