The Macedon Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident on State Route 31 near Creek Road in the Town of Macedon on July 2, 2016 at 5:18 P.M.  Upon arrival, investigating officers learned a motor home, operated by Jason Mark of Farmington, was eastbound on Route 31 towing a large BBQ smoker.  Witnesses indicated the BBQ smoker started to sway back and forth within the roadway.  The support beam connecting the BBQ smoker to the motor home broke causing the BBQ smoker to break free of the motor home.  The BBQ smoker traveled into the westbound lane of traffic where it was struck by a Honda Civic operated by Jared Jones of Palmyra, rendering Jones unconscious.  Jones was air lifted to Strong Hospital by Mercy Flight with head and upper extremity injuries.  A passenger in Jones’ vehicle, Seth Krebbecks, age 19 of Macedon, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Neither Mark or the passenger in the motor home were injured in the accident.  It is unknown if there will be charges pending as the investigation is ongoing.  Macedon Police were assisted by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, South Macedon, Macedon Center, and Palmyra Fire Departments, and the Macedon Town Ambulance.
